DQNEWS ( ) released its February sales results.  By sales, we mean the number of transactions.  February sales were down about 1% from January but up over 40% from February one year ago.  Southland sales were up over the previous year for the eighth consecutive month – primarily due to foreclosure transactions.

In Seal Beach (zip code 90740), the median sales price was $708K, down almost 12% from February one year ago.   The average price per square foot was $514 – up from the previous month’s $375.  Seal Beach’s average was the fourth highest in Orange (1 zip code in Laguna Beach and 2 zip codes in Newport Beach were higher).

The adjoining area of Belmont Shore (zip code 90803) had a median sales price of $550K, down over 45% from one year ago.  The average per square foot was $464 – this compares to last month’s $438.

Our Polynesian-themed restaurant in Sunset Beach (officially it’s in Huntington Beach) has undergone another name change.  For years it was known as Sam’s Seafood.  After a short renovation, it re-opened as Kona.

New signs have gone up and this restaurant is now Don the Beachcomber.  One of the investors acquired the rights to this name. You might remember some years ago that this was the name of a famous restaurant in Hawaii.

For residents of Seal Beach, it’s just on the other side of Anaheim Bay.
