August 2008

There is still a lot going on at the beach areas.  Next weekend September 6 and 7th there is a Arts and Crafts show at the Seal Beach Pier.  It is really different, everything at the show does have to be made by the artist.  The Car show in Belmont Shore is also going on.  Give me a call if you want to see  any Homes  for sale while you are in the area.

We’re getting set for a three day weekend, but wanted to let you know that the Eliminators will be appearing at the Bella Terra mall in Huntington Beach on Saturday, August 30, between 6 and 9pm.

If you enjoyed them at our final Seal Beach summer concert, you’ll enjoy them Saturday.

I wanted to add some more thoughts and results from our last summer concert on the 20th.

What a great time I had at the last summer concert.  I even won the 50/50 drawing.  It was the biggest crowd I ever seen there.  The weather was perfect and still warm even after the concert was over.  Maybe you can find yourselves in some of the pictures I took.  The concerts will return next summer and I am sure they will be just as fun.  I will keep you posted.

I was walking on the Pier the afternoon and they were shooting a Music Video.  I am not sure which one but at first I thought they were making a movie.  I have seen them shoot CSI Miami at the Rivers End Cafe at the end of First Street.  They even brought really big rocks to put at the end of the Jetty.

I learned later that it was Colbie Caillat that was making a video.  This was worth the short diversion in my business day.

I drove along Ocean Avenue to Main Street when I notice a lot of trucks and tents in the parking lot just south of the Seal Beach pier.  I didn’t know what was happening so I parked my car and walked down to find out.

I did not learn much but I did notice that Flying Monkey Films was involved – I don’t know if they were supporting the filming or leading it – but the crew was getting things ready to film two vehicles (a van and a woody) and some action near the van.  There were two performers (one was in a black dress – not normal beach attire) in the area.

If anyone knows what this was for, please let me know by commenting to this blog post.  I’ll check back later.

This is just a reminder that the Belmont Shore car show is fast arriving.  Mark September 7 on your calendar.  This’ll be a great time to see vintage cars (vintage in this case is pre-1975) on display along 2nd Street.

See you there!

According to www.dqnews.com, July sales in California were up more than 12% from June and also up more than 12% from one year ago.  Increased foreclosure resales account for the increase. Here are some statistics for our local area.

In Seal Beach the median sales price was $842K, down 1.5% from one year ago. The average per square foot was $316, unusually low.

For comparison purposes, in the Belmont Shore (we used zip code 90803) the median sales price was $707K, down over 40% from one year ago. The average per square foot was $592.
